2016 Safety Project: Buddy/Mentoring Guidelines
Buddy Up: At every meeting, ride, and event, Pair up with another Member or Guest, Alternating Buddies as much as possible to form closer relationships with each individual. Watch out for each other.
Mentor: Listen to your Buddy. Offer encouragement and support extending to life events and concerns beyond motorcycling based upon information shared.
Check In: When leaving the group, call or text your Buddy to let them know Safe Arrival. Failure to check in is cause for concern and may result in follow up steps.
Improve: Re: Motorcycling - Suggest an improvement your Buddy could make to improve her skills or safety.
Kudos: Everyone state what they enjoyed most about the meeting, ride, or event. Also make suggestions about any changes to make it even better.
Compliment: Re: Motorcycling - Express admiration to your Buddy about something you observed during the day.
Rides: Stay with your Buddy. If for any reason your Buddy must leave the group, stay with them so they are not left alone. Keep the Road Captain appraised of the situation, its resolution, and if you will be rejoining the group at an agreed location.
Events: Be aware of where your Buddy is and who she is with at all times. Check in with each other frequently to assure each other's safety. This is not behaviour judgement. We are all adults and responsible for our own decisions.
Concerns: One of the purposes of Women in the Wind is to promote the positive image of women
in motorcycling. Keep in mind any time we wear our patch our actions reflect upon both our chapter and the International organization of Women in the Wind. If in doubt, put it away. |
