Saturday morning began with a heavy mist. Breakfast in Medina at Keese's Cafe gave it a bit of time to dissapate before beginning the 355 mile journey. Heading out across 337, passing by the Lost Maples (State Park) General Store and on to Camp Wood to begin the first leg of the Brothers loop. Traveling up 55 and stopping in Rocksprings for gas, the second leg took us past Kickapoo State Park, where we stopped to take a few pictures. | One of those things when riding in Texas is to watch for water crossings! Sure enough, traversing 334 from Bracketville on our way to another gas stop in Camp Wood and finishing the Brothers Loop, the Nueces River was running across the road! A short pause to gauge the depth and speed of the water to assure a safe crossing allowed us to continue on our way. These crossings can be very dangerous! Even if the water is passable, the roadway underneath can be very slick with algae and moss! |
